The Fresno Bee reported earlier this afternoon that Cezar Guerrero, who averaged over 13 points a game for the Fresno State Bulldogs in the 2013-14 season, has failed to meet NCAA continuing eligibility standards and will miss tonight's season opener against Pepperdine.
No specifics were given, though the Bee notes that he is still in good academic standing with the university, but the length of the appeals process could mean that Guerrero will miss multiple games -- possibly the Gulf Coast Showcase --- while the issue gets sorted out. Thankfully, the 'Dogs have tremendous depth at guard, with Emmanuel Owootoah and Darnell Taylor capable of assuming larger roles in Guerrero's absence.
