The big news surrounding this game on Friday night between BYU and Utah State is that Aggies quarterback Chuckie Keeton will not have the services of its quarterback this weekend, and possibly for the rest of his career. That squarely puts the pressure on Darell Garretson to lead the team the rest of the way.
Yes, Garretson led the team last year to a 6-1 record as a starter, but his numbers were not all that impressive in his numbers, but he was a true freshman. He also has started a game this year in the loss to Arkansas State.
Besides not having Keeton, Utah State is taking on this undefeated BYU team that is ranked in the top 20 and trying to find a way to at the very least a New Year's Day Bowl, and just maybe a bid in the inaugural College Football Playoff.
Utah State's defense is good but they have not faced an offense what BYU brings to the table, and the Aggies will need to slow down dual-threat quarterback Taysom Hill and force him to throw the ball more than he runs. If the defense can do that they still have to contend with running back Jamaal Williams. Utah State will need to play a great defensive game if they are going to upset BYU.
