Taking UNLV to the Heart of Dallas Bowl earned head head coach Bobby Hauck a three-year extension and a $200,000 raise to give him an annual salary of $700,000. The contract is being presented to the Nevada Board of regents special meeting on Jan. 25, and it is assumed to be just a formality.
Hauck's base salary from $150,000 to $250,000, media appearance fee from $150,000 to $225,000 and public appearance fee from $50,000 to $225,000. He also well earn a one-time payment of $150,000 on July 1, deferred money from last season. His assistants are also going to be getting a pay raise.
Getting UNLV to their first bowl game since 2000, Hauck could have been entitled to anything that the school would offer for achieving the rare feat.
The move that made this all possible was benching quarterback Nick Sherry early in the season and replacing him Caleb Herring who then led the team to seven regular season wins.
