Seeing zero Mountain West players taken in the first round of the NFL Draft was only a minor surprise, but look for at least three to as many as six or more players go off the board on Friday in the second and third rounds of the draft. There are four locks to go on Friday are Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr, Nevada offensive lineman Joel Bitonio, Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence and Fresno State wide receiver Devante Adams.
A darkhorse second round pick could be Colorado State center Weston Richburg and maybe even Utah State cornerback Nevin Lawson. Others to look for in the third round are San Jose State quarterback David Fales or Wyoming wide receiver Robert Herron, but those two are a bit of a stretch. Fales will depend on team need and with it looking like three quarterbacks will be taken in round two look for Fales to possibly not be taken until Saturday in rounds four through seven.
Looking at the various round two mock drafts those are the four who will be taken
36. Oakland Raiders - Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State
38. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Demarcus Lawrence, DE/OLB, Boise State
40. Seattle Seahawks - Joel Bitonio, OT/G, Nevada
61. San Francisco 49ers - Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State
36. Oakland Raiders: Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State
37. Atlanta Falcons: Demarcus Lawrence, DE/OLB, Boise State
40. Seattle Seahawks (from Minnesota Vikings): Joel Bitonio, OG, Nevada
54. Philadelphia Eagles: Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State
55. Cincinnati Bengals: Weston Richburg, OC, Colorado State
Optimum Scouting (second and third round mock draft):
34 . Washington - Joel Bitonio, OG, Nevada
38 . Tampa Bay - Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State
47 . Dallas - Demarcus Lawrence, DE, Boise State
67 . Oakland - Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State
From all accounts there will be four or maybe five players taken in the second and third rounds on Friday.
