2014 NFL Mock Draft: Derek Carr goes No. 2

Mocking the Draft has a second 2014 mock draft and Fresno State's Derek Carr shoots up the board.

SB Nation's NFL Draft hub Mocking the Draft has published another mock draft, and their first in a month. The last mock draft had Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr  going No. 5 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the most recent mock has jettisoning up to the No. 2 spot to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Here is what Mocking the Draft says about Carr going No. 2 overall.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars: Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State: The Jaguars are suddenly, and strangely, one of the hotter teams in the NFL. They've abandoned the No. 1 pick and, with an upcoming game against the Houston Texans, could continue tumbling down the draft order. Wherever they land, finding a franchise quarterback is critical. Why Carr over Oregon's Marcus Mariota? General manager David Caldwell was part of the scouting departments that drafted Peyton Manning in Indianapolis and Matt Ryan in Atlanta. He may be more comfortable with the quarterback that fits the same classic pocket passer mold.

This spot for the Jaguars may not hold since they have won a few games, but they really do need a quarterback for the future. Carr has had a great season putting up huge numbers with a few receivers who are NFL caliber of their own.
