2014 NFL mock draft: Derek Carr No. 5 to Tampa Bay

In SB Nation's latest mock draft has Derek Carr going early in the first round.

SB Nation's Mocking the Draft presented their latest one-round mock draft recently. There were a lot of changes from early mock drafts which included San Jose State quarterback David Fales as a first round pick, and that is no longer the case.

However, in this mock draft there is another Mountain West quarterback who is in the first round: Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr. Carr is projected to be taken with the fifth pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay is very much need of a quarterback since Josh Freeman was traded during the season and whoever else they have trotted out this season has not been all that good.

Heres is what Mocking the Draft says about Carr to Tampa Bay:

The Buccaneers may play themselves out of a high enough draft position to acquire a top-end quarterback prospect. If Tampa ends up doing so, Mike Glennon has probably performed well enough to get one more season as the Buccaneers quarterback. As it stands in this mock draft, Tampa is sitting at No. 5, and Derek Carr is on the board. Considering the strides Carr has made from his junior to his senior season, his physical tools should excite teams picking in the top 10. Depending on the new coaching staff, a certain firecracker quarterback from Texas A&M could be in play here as well.

Carr is not the first signal-caller off the board as Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater is projected as the top pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Oregon's Marcus Mariota is slotted at the second spot to the Minnesota Vikings.
