New Mexico will face Stanford in the round of 64 in a very neutral location in St. Louis, Mo., on Friday afternoon. The Cardinal made it to this point by finishing 21-12 but their season ended on a down note as Stanford was completely destroyed in the Pac-12 semifinal matchup to UCLA by a score of 84-59. It does not get better as Stanford lost four of their last seven games.
Stanford has been on a bad streak over the last month of the season and that is the reason they fell to the 10 seed after being projected as an upper half seeded team.
New Mexico is on the opposite end of the spectrum as they won the Mountain West tournament and went 9-1 over their last 10 games, and the one loss came to San Diego State who is a top-10 team.
