The Mountain West tournament is going as planned with the top four seeds moving on to the semifinals. Two of the four games came down to being a competitive match with Wyoming holding off Utah State for a two-point win and San Diego State coming from behind to top host UNLV.
The Mountain West is looking to land three teams in the Mountain West tournament and right now Boise State, San Diego State and Colorado State are looking good to make the tournament. A spot in the finals should firmly secure a NCAA tournament bid, with the exception of Wyoming who must win the tournament to earn a trip to the big dance.
Wyoming will need a big day from Larry Nance, Jr., but he is still not back to himself. He played all 40 minutes in the win over Utah State, but he scored just 13 points and had five turnovers. The Cowboys will need him if they are going to upset Boise State.
Colorado State and San Diego State should be a good matchup as the two split their series, but the Rams had a much easier time in topping Fresno State in the quarterfinals. The Aztecs needed everything they had to top UNLV to advance this far.
