If New Mexico wants to keep pace in the Mountain West Conference race they had to take care of their home court and beat Utah State Saturday. They were coming off a bad loss on Wednesday and needed to bounce back but after missing four three pointers in the last minute the Lobos now find themselves in the middle of the pack with the likely scenario for the for post season play would be to win their fourth consecutive Conference tournament championship.

The Lobos started the game strong taking a nine point lead in the first half but two Chris Smith three pointers gave the Aggies a 33-30 lead going into the half. In the second half Jalen Moore took over scoring 10 of the Aggies 11 points. The Aggies would push the lead to 10 points with 8 minutes left that’s when the Lobos would make their comeback behind Deshawn Delany’s eight points getting the Lobos within two points. The Lobos would not be able to complete the comeback as a missed Sam Logwood layup and defensive lapse that led to a Jalen Moore dunk pretty much sealed to game.

The Aggies where led by Moore who scored 19 points and Chris Smith who’s hot shooting got USU going finished withn13. The Lobos only double digit scorer was Obij Aget who finished with 10 points. The Lobos and Aggies now both 6-5 in the conference and are both fighting to stay out of the tournaments play in game.
