New Mexico vs. Nevada final score: Wolf Pack defeat Lobos in OT thriller

Down by double digits yet again, the Wolf Pack were able to come from behind to defeat the Lobos in Reno.

It was almost the same old story for Nevada tonight.

In the last few games, the Wolf Pack would be down by double digits to an opponent and Nevada would fight their way back to cut the opponents lead to single digits but the Wolf Pack were unable to take over the lead.

Tonight would not be the same old story for Nevada.

The Wolf Pack (8-16, 4-8 Mountain West)  were down by 15 points to the Lobos (14-11, 6-7 Mountan West) early in the second half and Nevada mounted a comeback to get the lead within single digits but this time, Nevada took the lead due to Marqueze Coleman's great performance as he scored 24 points tonight for the Wolf Pack. After hitting a three pointer to cut the Lobos lead to 56-51, Coleman scored six straight points to give the Wolf Pack a one point lead. After Tyron Criswell's layup gave the Wolf Pack a three point lead, Lobos guard Hugh Greenwood made a three pointer to tie the game at 59 where it remained tied at the end of regulation.

In overtime, the Lobos retook the lead after Deshawn Delaney's two made free throws gave the Lobos a 61-60 edge but an Eric Cooper three pointer gave the Wolf Pack a two point lead at 63-61. JJ N'Ganga's made layup tied the game but it was Marqueze Coleman who gave the Wolf Pack the lead by hitting one of his two free throws with :35 seconds left in overtime. Then it was AJ West who closed it out with a dunk after Coleman missed his second free throw. The dunk gave the Wolf Pack the 66-63 lead and the win which ended their four game home losing streak.

Coleman had help from his Wolf Pack teammates tonight. Eric Cooper Jr,. finished with 14 points and AJ West posted his eleventh double-double of the season by scoring 12 points and grabbing 17 rebounds.

This was a great win for a Wolf Pack team that finally broke through and took the lead after being down by double digits. This was a predicament that the Wolf Pack had been in for the last few games but could not finish the comeback. But tonight, the Wolf Pack were able to do just that and get the victory.

The Wolf Pack next contest will be on Tuesday as the host the Wyoming Cowboys at 9 pm.
