Simulated 2013 BCS standings, Week 4: Fresno State inching up

Fresno State moved up three spots without playing a game in the latest simulated BCS standings.

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

There are still zero non-AQ teams in the latest simulated BCS standings, and there is only one ranked team from this group at all, and that is Fresno State who is No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Fresno State comes in at No. 30, and they could be higher if their game against Colorado had not been postponed due to flooding.

Of the computer date available, Fresno State is ranked in just one and comes in at No. 18, but that can be due to playing just two games and one against a FCS team.

Of the other non-AQ teams Boise State is No. 36, BYU is No. 37, Utah State No. 40 and San Jose State is No. 42.

There is a lot of football to be played and the first initial BCS standings are still a few weeks away.

Keys: Md = Median ranking of 31 computer ratings; CM = Colley Matrix; JS = Jeff Sagarin; KM = Kenneth Massey; RB = Richard Billingsley; CPU Avg. = Computer Average.

Explanation: This rankings method is a simulation of the actual BCS standings with the following variations: 1) The AP Poll is used in place of the Harris Interactive Poll, which is not published until after the first weekend of October; 2) Four of the six BCS computer ratings are available - Colley Matrix, Jeff Sagarin, Kenneth Massey and Richard Billingsley; 3) The other two computer ratings - Anderson & Hester and Peter Wolfe - will not be available until late-September or October, so they're replaced by the median ranking of 31 computer ratings.
