Cody Fajardo out against Florida State with injury, Devin Combs to start

Nevada will be playing backup quarterback Devin Coombs when they take on Florida State.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Nevada Wolf Pack are going to have an even more difficult time when they take on No. 10 ranked Florida State Saturday afternoon. Starting quarterback Cody Fajardo was already listed as day-to-day earlier in the week with a sprained right knee.

One hour to kickoff Fajardo took to Twitter that he is not going to plau:

This is a huge loss for Nevada because Fajardo would have been able to keep the Wolf Pack stay close in this game, well at least for maybe a quarter or two. Now, a blowout could be likely.

Playing in Fajardo's place will be junior Devin Combs. Combs has seen sometime this year against UCLA and UC Davis, and saw action in 2012, and started one game against UNLV. Being in the system for a few years is a plus, and Combs is able to take off and run which is a help in this pistol offense.

Having Fajardo sit is possibly better for the long run since this is a non-conference game and does not affect their Mountain West title chances.
