The San Jose St. Spartans have had a verbal commit from Sidney Jones since July, but now the 6'1", 190-pound athlete has received an offer to play in the Pac-12 at Utah, according to Gregg Biggins of Scout.com. Jones is from West Covina, Calif., and is rated as a two-star prospect.

Jones is listed as an athlete but in high school he plays wide receiver, cornerback and returns kick. His team is 2-0 s far, but unearthing stats at the high school level is a bit tricky. However, in 2012 he had seven total touchdowns with six coming as a receiver, 16 receptions for 380 yards an interceptions, 49 tackles and averaged 23 yards on eight punt returns.

So yeah, he is all over the field and makes plays and as of now his position at the FBS level will depend on where he lands up. Seems likely that defense could be his landing spot, and that is probably where Utah wants him to play. Utah has a lot to offer for a defensive back since the Utes have put in many defensive backs in the NFL over the past five years. That level of success for Utah defensive backs could have Jones leaning toward making a change.

Jones also has offers from San Diego State and New Mexico State.

Here are highlights of Jones junior season:
