The USA Today coaches poll will be released at noon ET on Thursday, and while the rankings leave something to be desired since coaches do not have time to properly vote -- or just pass vote to someone else. The polls do mark the unofficial start to the season, well for those casual fans who do not get into the hoopla of media days.
in 2012, the Mountain West had Boise State represent the league at No. 24 in the preseason rankings, but the entire year saw a shuffling of in and out of the polls before ending the year at No. 18. However, the Broncos were the only team to make the cut, as the league was down in 2012.
This year the Mountain West should be a much better league with the additions of Utah State and San Jose State, both who finished ranked in the final polls. However, do not expect the Aggies or Spartans to make an appearance in the preseason poll.
During the offseason, it was only Boise State who cracked the various way-too-early polls and were ranked as hight as No. 13 to the end at No. 25. Once the sports information directors coaches have their preseason poll released look for Boise State to be right around 20, and also the only Mountain West team to be ranked. However, there should be many other teams to get votes, such as Utah State, San Jose State, San Diego State and Fresno State.
Check back at noon ET for the first poll.
