The big reveal at media days is the media poll that releases the all-conference teams as well as the projected order of finish. This year the Mountain West's big ticket item should be the announcement of specific details of the inaugural title game, but that announcement will not come until commissioner Craig Thompson speaks on Tuesday at the end of the event.
Now, these predictions for order of finish are not my own views but they are what my opinion on how media members will vote.
Mountain | West |
1. Boise St. Broncos | 1. Fresno St. Bulldogs |
2. Utah State Aggies | 2. San Diego St. Aztecs |
3. Air Force Falcons | 3. San Jose St. Spartans |
4. Wyoming Cowboys | 4. Nevada Wolf Pack |
5. Colorado St. Rams | 5. UNLV Rebels |
6.New Mexico Lobos | 6. Hawaii Warriors |
The title game is between Fresno State and Boise State (obviously) and if the media is picking an overall winner, then Boise State will be the choice.
As for the offensive and defensive players of the year will be named, and look for the media to go with Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr to earn the offensive honors and Boise State defensive tackle Demarcus Lawrence to earn preseason defensive player of the year.
