2015 New Mexico basketball recruiting: Lobos land verbal from SF Dane Kuiper

New Mexico landed a verbal commit from 2015 recruit Dane Kuiper out of Arizona by way of Alaska.

The New Mexico Lobos are getting an early start on their 2015 recruiting class when they landed a verbal commitment from 6'5" small forward Dane Kuiper. Kuiper is an interesting case as he recently moved from Alaska to Arizona to gain some better attention, and it worked.

So far, Kuiper has played just AAU basketball in Arizona with the Arizona Power, and that has been enough to raise the stock of a player who was already getting some attention in Alaska. The move to Arizona will give him a lot more attention, and allow the ease to travel to college campus as well as college coaches seeing him play.

Since moving to Arizona, Kuiper is the No. 1 ranked prospect in Arizona, and that likely means he will be rated as one of the best in the national class of 2015.

He ended up choosing New Mexico over offers from Creighton, Virginia, Northern Arizona, Portland, San Francisco and other non-major schools. Kupier elected to choose the Lobos due to the bond he formed with new head coach Craig Neal, and also that New Mexico has been recruiting him the most. 2015 signing day is still almost two years away so things can change, but in the mean time he is a Lobo.
