Boise State will add a second TE to their 2014 class. Drew Sample is a big, talented player out of Newport High School, Bellevue, Wa., and Boise State made him an offer this past weekend. He gave his verbal acceptance to the Broncos after spending a few days thinking it over.

Sample also had offers from a number of other schools including South Florida, UTEP, Idaho, Nevada, UNLV and Air Force.

Sample is a multi-sport kid and runs the 40 in 4.7 seconds but he can also bench 300 pounds. He was recruited as a tight end, but Sample said his size, speed and flexibility could allow him to be slotted outside the line as a receiver.

The Newport Knights were notorious at running the ball last season (almost 4,000 yards), but when they did pass Sample was there to led the Knights in receiving. As a junior he had 12 receptions for 218 yards and five touchdowns.

Sample said that his choice to verbally commit to Boise State was an easy one:

"When I went to the camp I got to talk with all the coaches and be coached by some of them and after that it was pretty easy," Sample said of his decision. "I loved the coaches and their philosophies and the campus was beautiful and it's a nice college town. Football wise and academics wise, everything was just a good fit for me."

Asked what Boise State fans should expect from him, Sample said, "They should expect me to be a threat in the pass game and take some guys when I'm run-blocking."

Sample makes the eighth recruit overall to commit to the Boise State football team, and he is rates as the seventh best player in Washington plus a two-star recruit according to Rivals.
