SB Nation's own Jason Kirk has projected 6 teams for the Mountain West. Let's break these down, shall we?
Fiesta Bowl: January 1, 2014 - Texas vs. Boise State I would just like to point out here that my main issue with this pick, is Texas being in a BCS bowl, not Boise State. Seeing the Broncos' schedule, it is easy to think that BSU should belong in another BCS bowl. I mean, why not at this point?
Las Vegas Bowl: December 21, 2013 - Fresno State vs. Oregon State I like this match-up. I've always felt that these two teams were similar philosophically, and so it would be only natural to meet up in a city where logic never makes any sense.
Poinsettia Bowl: December 26, 2013 - San Diego State vs. Ball State Another pick that makes sense: SDSU at home, unfortunately it's not against the BSU they wanted (BLAME THE SCHEDULING, AZTECS). Ball State replaces Army here, because Army will most likely not be bowl bound.
Armed Forces Bowl: December 30, 2013 - Utah State vs. Marshall No complaints about Utah State's placement and picking up the 3rd pick, although you can't help but think that Navy should be in here instead of Marshall.
New Mexico Bowl: December 21, 2013 - San Jose State vs. Washington Here's where Jason and I start disagreeing on things. Do I believe that SJSU can make a bowl? Yes. Do I believe they will make a bowl? Yes. Are they the 5th best team in the MWC? Absolutely not. I'm also pretty sure that Nevada has something to say about this as well...
Hawaii Bowl: December 24, 2013 - Air Force vs. East Carolina I'm not too high on this pick, those of you who were listening to the podcast last week know why. I feel Nevada or San Jose State should be here...then again I firmly believe that New Mexico will make a bowl game. Which brings us to...
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: December 21, 2013 - Ohio vs. Wyoming I don't think Wyoming will end up 6-6 to make a bowl. Instead here's the better option:
NEW. MEXICO. FOOTBAW BAWB. There should be no other choice for this bowl. Especially, since it's very possible with the Lobos' schedule to be bowl eligible. After all, what could be better than FOOTBAW BAWB and MACtion in a possible snowstorm as a bowl game?
