2013 Colorado State basketball recruiting: Rams eyeing in on JUCO forward Cameron Forte

Colorado State is in the running for JUCO forward Cameron Forte.

The spring signing period for college basketball is coming up this week, and the Colorado St. Rams are getting interest from a top JUCO player in Cameron Forte, a former Texas Tech signee. Forte is a 6-foot-7 forward and has been playing at Howard Junior College, this past year he led their team in scoring with 22.5 points per game. In high school he was a stud and averaged 36 points and 12 boards per contest, including a 60-point game.

Forte is expected to make his decision next month, and he is choosing among Colorado State, Long Beach State, Ole Miss, Georgia, Pitt and Minnesota is also being considered. Those schools are being considered due to playing time being avalible and being comfortable with the coaching staff.

He plans on making a few more visits before he decides, but he likes Colorado State since the coaches can relate to him:

"The (CSU) staff is cool. Most of them have been JUCO coaches, so I can relate to them. I've been talking to Coach Hodge a lot and he's a cool coach. I feel very comfortable with him and the situation that they have with their program. I think it's a good fit.

"He said he wants me to come in and just be a big factor on the offensive side and put some points on the board. He likes my length and my ability on the defensive side. They're losing a lot of talent, so they need somebody to come in and have a big impact," Forte added.

Forte has three years of eligibility left, plus a red shirt year too if needed. With the Rams graduating their starting five there will be room for Forte to step in right away and contribute.

If Forte does sign with the Rams he will be their fourth commit for the 2014 season.
