Boise State has added a big time football opponent to their future schedule, as they and Florida State have agreed to a home-and-home schedule. Boise State will play the first game on the road in Tallahassee on Sept. 7, 2019, and the second game will be at Broncos Stadium on Sept. 20, 2020.
This is a huge get and possibly the best opponent to ever to come to Boise, Idaho. Boise State has struggled to get big time opponents to do a home-and-home, most recently the Broncos have had to play one-off games like the season openers such as the Georgia and Virginia Tech games in the past, plus the upcoming game against Mississippi in the 2014 season.
Adding Florida State comes on the heals of Boise State scheduling a home-and-home with Virginia. For Florida State, they typically don't venture out of the area for non-conference games. They did have a home-and-home with BYU a few years back.
2019 and 2020 is a far ways off, so who knows if the game actually happens. To ensure these games do have a chance of being played each school is obligated to pay the other $400,000.
Here is what Florida State says about scheduling Boise State:
"We are very excited to add Boise State to our future football schedule," said Florida State Director of Athletics Randy Spetman. "Boise State has an excellent football program and we feel this will be an out of conference game that will be exciting for fans of both schools and appealing to TV networks.
Here is what Boise State is saying about the game; spoiler, it is positive:
"Scheduling a home-and-home series against a perennial top-25 program like Florida State is another step in growing our football program," Boise State Director of Athletics Mark Coyle stated. "Florida State is a team fans talk about when discussing the top collegiate programs in the country and I know Bronco Nation will be excited about hosting a team like Seminoles in Boise."
There is also a little nugget that Boise State could be scheduling a top tier team from the Big 12 in the upcoming weeks.
