Week 17 Mountain West Men's basketball schedule

The penultimate week of the 2013 Mountain West regular season is upon us and the race for the MWC regular season has come down to four teams and 13 games - though the New Mexico Lobos hold a two-game lead and the inside track to the championship as well as the Number 1 seed in the MWC Tournament in Las Vegas, NV in two weeks.

The No. 16 New Mexico Lobos took a big step towards a Mountain West Conference regular season title with their win at the Colorado St. Rams Saturday night. But there are still miles to go before the Lobos - or the Rams, UNLV Runnin' Rebels or the San Diego St. Aztecs - can sleep with the league title securely in their arms.

Here are the three big games of Week 17:

  • San Diego St. at No. 16 New Mexico - Wed. 8:15 pm MT | The Pit - Albuquerque, NM | TV: CBS Sports Network: The Aztecs swept both games in Week 16 to get to 8-5 and set up a critical game if they hope to claim even a share of the 2012-13 MWC regular season crown. The Lobos have a 2 1/2 game lead on SDSU and with a sweep this week can all but clinch the MWC title for themselves. Oh yeah... and the Aztecs have won 3 of the last 4 in The Pit.
  • Colorado St. at the Boise St. Broncos - Sat. 6 pm MT | Taco Bell Arena, Boise, ID | TV: None. Internet streaming at broncosports.com: The MWC regular season has seen plenty of teams playing must-win games - this yet another one. The Broncos' NCAA hopes are riding on finishing strong in MWC play so this is a must for them. But the game is also a must for the Rams, who are now two games behind UNM in the MWC title chase. Their NCAA ticket is likely punched. But you know CSU would like at least a share of the MWC regular season title.
  • UNLV at the Nevada Wolf Pack - Sat. 1 pm PT | Lawlor Event Center - Reno, NV | TV: NBC Sports Network: On the surface, this rivalry match-up doesn't seem to offer much as the Wolf Pack stands at 3-9 in conference with the Runnin ' Rebels stand at 8-5. But with UNLV chasing UNM and Colorado St., they need wins and the Rebs have been terribly inconsistent on the road. An upset in Reno would be disastrous for UNLV. Which makes this game must-see TV.
