The Wyoming coaching search has had a lot of names tossed around this past week, and the end may be near as Wyoming is holding a 7 p.m. ET press conference Sunday, likely meaning a head coach will be announced. Coaching Search is reporting that Ted Gilmore, Jeff Tedford or Brock Spack are not going to be the next Cowboys head coach.
Spack told the Casper Star-Tribune that he is not leaving Illinois State, "I am not going to the University of Wyoming," Spack said. "I am very happy where I'm at."
However, in that same article Tedford has said that he is "definitely interested," and Tedford's former boss Mike Bellotti also said that Tedford has interest in the job.
If it is not the three names mentioned of who is not going to get the job, then who is going to be Wyoming's next head coach. Sam Houston State head coach Willie Fritz has been a named mentioned from the start, so it could be him. There also have been a few other names tied to the job, and one is Mike Stoops who is the current defensive coordinator at Oklahoma. The other is North Dakota State head coach Craig Bohl who has no ties to Wyoming but has been dominant at the FCS level having won the last two FCS national titles and his current team has a 12-0 record.
