Karson Roberts injury: Air Force quarterback leaves game with head injury

The Air Force Falcons are having no luck at the quarterback spot this year. They lost starter Kale Pearson to a knee injury that knocked him out for the season and backup Jaleel Awini is not in good standing so the quarterback play went to Karson Roberts.

Well, the bad luck continued as Roberts left Thursday night's game against San Diego State at the end of the first quarter due to a head injury, and he did not return to the game. The severity of his head injury is still not known.

So in came fourth-string quarterback in freshman Nate Romine who proceeded to rush for a 16-yard touchdown. Romine also has a 71-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter to help Air Force lead for most of this game. Being his first ever game, Romine moved the ball good enough, until the fourth quarter. Romine ended up completing 5 of 11 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for just 15 yards in the loss.

Air Force is now 1-6 on the year and are down to their fourth-string quarterback, pending the outcome of Roberts head injury that could be a concussion. The Falcons may just want to pack this season in and work on 2014.
