2013 Las Vegas Bowl: USC's Silas Redd likely out, Tre Madden questionable

USC will be thin at the running back position as Silas Redd is likely out against Fresno State in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Thearon W. Henderson

USC Trojans running back Silas Redd has not had the two-year career he had hoped for after transferring from Penn State last year, and it is possible that Redd could not be in the lineup for the Las Vegas Bowl. Redd has been hampered by a quite a few injuries this year, but Ryan Abraham from is reporting Redd's likely out for the post season.

Yes, Abraham also mentions that backup Tre Madden could be out as well, and blowing a big hit to the running game for USC.

Interim head coach Clay Helton commented on Redds' injury:

"Silas' knee is probably worse than expected, so we don't think he's going to make it right now," Helton said after the Saturday practice with Redd watching from the sidelines in sweatpants.

Redd has played in just six games this season, rushing for 376 yards and one touchdown. Madden is USC's leading rusher with 703 yards and three touchdowns.

If Redd or Madden are unable to play then look for the Trojans to be led by sophomore Javorius Allen, and he was their best running back this year. Allen rushed for 699 yards and led the team with 12 touchdowns.

The talent is there for USC with Allen but their depth is where the Trojans could have issues in the ball game.
