Adam Muema had a huge game for San Diego State in their 49-24 win over Buffalo in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl by rushing for 229 yards and three touchdowns. The game started off slow and it was just a 7-0 Aztecs lead after the first quarter, but then the second quarter went full on #MACtion with a combined 31 points.
In that second period, San Diego State outscored Buffalo 21-10 and took a 28-10 lead at the half. This was all based on the legs of Muema who scored two of his three touchdowns in that quarter. Fourteen of those points came in the final 1:06 and one of the scores was set up by Joe Licata throwing his only interception.
An 18-point lead at the half is not too big to overcome but San Diego State kept the scoring going by 14 points in the third quarter to zero for Buffalo. San Diego State took complete control of the game by recovering the second half kickoff and then proceeded to score a touchdown just a few plays later. Heading into the final quarter the Aztecs took a 42-10 lead.
There were some garbage points put up in the final quarter which made the final score look closer with Buffalo outscoring San Diego State 14-7.
Muema did have a great game for the Aztecs, but their defense played very well, too. The defense was bery good and held Licita to just 13 of 30 passes for 196 yards, and in the ground game Brandon Oliver did rush for 114 yards. Outside of Oliver the Bulls offense struggled all day.
