The 2014 Mountain West tournament is coming to a close as the championship game is set as No. 1 seeded San Diego St. Aztecs will be taking on the New Mexico Lobos in the rubber match for the Mountain West title game.
On the line for the Mountain West tournament is only better seeding for both teams as each are in the NCAA Tournament. San Diego State made it this far by outlasting host team UNLV, 59-51. The Aztecs held off a second half Rebel run to advance to the finals against New Mexico.
New Mexico had a bit tougher time advancing to the title game. The Lobos were in control for most of the game against Boise State, but the Broncos came back in the second half and had a chance for a game-tying shot but an over and back was called against Boise State. That turnover ended the game and saw New Mexico winning 70-67.
San Diego State may have the early edge since their game against UNLV was not as physical in what New Mexico faced against Boise State.
