COACH: Mike Leach (1st year at WSU, 1-1). Leach is most famous for his 10 season tenure at Texas Tech, where he had great success running an air raid sort of offense. Leach’s tenure ended in scandal when he allegedly locked Adam James in a closet.

KEY OFFENSIVE PLAYERS: Jeff Tuel is the Cougar’s senior quarterback, who has been trusted to run Mike Leach’s pass heavy offense. Tuel was injured at the beginning of last season, but threw for almost 3,000 yards in his sophomore season in 2010. Wide Receiver Marquess Wilson is also a big part of the offense, catching 82 balls for over 1,300 yards last year.

KEY DEFENSIVE PLAYERS: Playmaking safety Deone Bucannon is a key part of the defense, with 19 tackles and an interception so far on the season, but he will be suspended for the first half of the game against UNLV. Travis Long is an important cog on the defensive line, with 11 tackles and 2 sacks this season.
