News is slowly leaking down about teams securing television rights for home football games that did not get picked up by CBS Sports Network or NBC Sports Network. The latest is the San Diego St. Aztecs who have been working with Channel 4SD, Fox Sports San Diego and Time Warner's new regional network to get their games on television.
Currently the Aztecs have six games on television with three on the CBS Sports Network, two on NBC Sports Network and the other one is on the Pac-12 Network when they play Washington State.
San Diego State athletic director Jim Sherk has already come out and said, "we have been told all our games will be on TV." Interesting comment since Sherk can only secure rights for home games, but the two road games are looking to be safe since one game is at Wyoming who is already in progress of landing more games and the other at Fresno State.
There is still an issue for San Diego residents since the new Time Warner regional channel does not have distribution plans announced, and that network does not go live until Oct. 1. By that time two games that could have been picked up would have passed. Then Fox Sports San Diego also as problems with distribution since it is not on Time Warner. The best option for all to see the games would be for Channel 4SD to broadcast the remaining home games.
So, even though all games are planned to be shown on television there will likely be some area residents out of luck.
