San Diego State To Play Syracuse On The USS Midway

New, comments

San Diego State is scheduled to play Syracuse on the USS Midway in November.

Richard Mackson-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Three weeks ago it was being reported that San Diego State was to play Georgetown on the USS Midway, however the opponent will be a different Big East team in the Syracuse Orange. The game will take place on the USS Midway which is now a museum and the game will take place on Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. pacifici time.

This is an extremely rare non-conference road game for Syracuse who typically hang out in their own neck of the woods scheduling in schools to come to the Carrier Dome, so seeing that come cross country for a game is a big deal.

With San Diego State set to head out to the Big East for football in 2013 there was an agreement to schedule some Big East basketball teams to throw them a bone, however this game is not part of any future agreement. Looks like the allure of playing on an air craft carrier is enough to bring Syracuse to the West Coast..

Other scheduling news for San Diego State is that they will be playing the UCLA Bruins in the Wooden Classic at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Dec. 1.
