The latest AP top 25 basketball poll is out, and the Mountain West has a pair of ranked teams in San Diego State who is No. 17 and UNLV is No. 20 in the AP poll. Both the Aztecs and Rebels each moved up one spot.
The big surprise is that New Mexico who was ranked No. 16, but fell completely out of the rankings, plus earned no votes after falling to South Dakota State. Then there is the Wyoming Cowboys, who despite being 12-0 and have wins over
In the coaches poll, San Diego State dropped one spot to No. 16, while UNLV moved up to No. 17. New Mexico also fell out of the coaches poll after losing to South Dakota State. Wyoming is also receiving votes, as is Colorado State who earned just one vote.
Not sure what it takes for Wyoming to get ranked as they are just one of five teams that are undefeated, it is likely due to their strength of schedule which is not the best. However they do have a handful of solid wins over Denver, Colorado and Southern Illinois. It will likely will a few more wins for Wyoming to get ranked.
