Fresno State was mostly known for their offense with quarterback Derek Carr, running back Robbie Rouse and wide receiver Davante Adams.
However, their defense was a top-20 unit and it was led by defensive back Phillip Thomas. Thomas led the nation with eight interceptions, with three being returned for touchdowns. Plus, he was a force in getting to the line of scrimmage, where he had four sacks and 12 tackles per loss.
With that type of season he was named a consensus All-America -- Fresno State's first -- and below are all of the honors he has won this season.

The one award that Thomas was robbed of was winning the Jim Thorpe Award. That award went to Mississippi State's Johnthan Banks. He had half of as many picks as Thomas, no sacks, no touchdowns and just two tackles for loss. So, not sure how Banks won the award.
