Road to the BCS: Who needs to win, lose to help Boise State

There are plenty of games out there that can help Boise State move up the BCS ranks.

Mike Ehrmann

The Boise St. Broncos are sitting at No. 19 in the latest BCS standings, and besides winning, they still need some help to move into the top 16. Here are the games that have an effect on Boise State moving up in next weeks BCS standings.

No. 16 Texas A&M at No. 15 Ole Miss - 12 p.m. ET on ESPN

Rooting interest: Doesn't matter

There might be a slight edge given to wanting Texas A&M to win, because both teams will have one loss. However, whatever team loses will drop below Boise State, and that is all what really matters.

No. 20 Nebraska at Michigan State - 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN2

Rooting interest: Michigan State

Two reasons this helps Boise State, first it will help out with strength of schedule since the Broncos played Michigan State and the other is that by defeating Nebraska it would knock them out of the top 25.

No, 4 Oregon at No. 17 USC - 7:00 p.m. ET on FOX

Rooting interest: Oregon

With USC getting a third loss, that will put them out of the BCS picture all together, and open some room for Boise State to move up. This was one of the more anticipated games, plus Oregon will be wearing all-white uniforms, so that is cool. As for the game, I want Oregon to just steam roll USC, and it probably will happen.

No. 24 Oklahoma State at No. 2 Kansas State - 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC

Rooting interest: Kansas State

If Oklahoma State is able to pull off the upset against Kansas State -- which is possible due to their offense -- they would likely move ahead of Boise State, or at least be ahead of Boise State in the computer rankings.
