Fresno St. Bulldogs starting quarterback Derek Carr knew for awhile that he would be returning to Fresno State for his senior year, and not leave for the NFL. He was just "playing" with the media regarding his decision.

There had been some speculation over the past weeks, and months, that Carr could possibly skip his senior year to head to the NFL. After Saturday's win over Air Force, his first response was to say he was not leaving Fresno State.

Air Force head coach Troy Calhoun, a former NFL assistant coach, said that Carr can play in the NFL, "He's NFL ready without a doubt," Calhoun said. "I don't think he missed a throw today."

NFL Draft website, has Carr as the sixth rated quarterback in the 2014 class. Carr's stats for this season were pretty amazing as he has thrown for 3,742 yards, 36 touchdowns to just five interceptions.

That win for Fresno State allowed them to claim a share of the Mountain West title with San Diego State -- plus maybe Boise State if they win next week. The conference title for Fresno State was their first since 1999. Carr also was named this week's Walter Camp national player of the week, as he threw for 452 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions against Air Force.
