The Air Force Falcons have become the first Mountain West team to accept a bowl bid. The Falcons earned an Armed Forces Bowl invite after their 21-7 win over Hawai'i Friday night. This will be the Falcons fourth trip to Fort Worth, Texas, and the hope this time around that the opponent is someone other than the Houston Cougars.
Houston and Air Force have met in the Armed Forces Bowl in the 2008 and 2009 version. The Falcons opponent is still up in the air, but the opponent is to be a team from Conference USA.
The game will be played back on the campus of TCU, and the game is to be played on Dec. 29 on ESPN and kicks off very early at 12:45 p.m. ET, that is a pre-noon local kickoff.
Of course the statement released by the school is a positive one for the football team, as they should be for heading to another bowl game:
"This is a great opportunity for the Air Force Academy and we're very excited to be going back to Fort Worth for the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl," said Air Force director of athletics, Dr. Hans Mueh. "We are very honored to take part in the 10th anniversary of such a prestigious, well-run bowl game."
