Remember when some Mountain West schools vowed to never play BYU again for the way they secretly made a move to leave the Mountain West, and the hilariously code name "The Project." Well, it looks like UNLV is past any of that pettiness, and have scheduled a home-and-home against the BYU Cougars in 2014 and 2015.
The first game will be played in Provo on Nov. 15, 2014, while the second game will be in Las Vegas on Nov. 14, 2015. This is a good matchup for UNLV, who is still trying to build their program to respectability, and this series is against a good opponent, but not one that is a certain loss.
UNLV athletic director Jim Livengood talked about this series:
"We're excited to renew our series with BYU and we think those will be two terrific games for our fans," UNLV Director of Athletics Jim Livengood said. "We are also very pleased to welcome Central Michigan back to our schedule for the first time in nearly two decades in a series that gets our name into the Midwest. I think both of these series help solidify our future schedules in nothing but positive ways."
UNLV also scheduled a two-game set against Central Michigan, those games will be played in 2013 and 2016. The first game will be at Sam Boyd Stadium on Sept. 28, 2013, and the return the game three years later on Sept. 17, 2016.
Here is UNLV's complete 2013 non-conference schedule.
Aug. 29 -- at Minnesota
Sept. 7 -- Arizona
Sept. 21 -- Western Illinois
Sept. 28 -- Central Michigan
