UNLV Rebels guard Bryce Dejean-Jones is expected to be out 4 to 6 weeks as he fractured his left hand, at his third and fourth metacarpal bones, during a scrimmage last Thursday. The 6-foot-5 guard is a starter for this UNLV team, and if he misses the full six weeks he would only be out three games. If the prognosis is close to five weeks then it is possibly that he misses no games.
Here is the release by head coach Dave Rice on the injury:
"We have all seen how hard Bryce has worked to get ready for the season," Rice said. "I know he will work equally hard to be ready to play when he is cleared from this injury. This is adversity for Bryce and for our team and we will all support him as he goes through this."
Dejean-Jones was waiting to get on the floor this year for UNLV since he sat on the bench last year since he was sitting out the mandatory year for transferring from USC. During his one year at USC, Dejean-Jones started in 10 games while averaging 7.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
If there is any extended set back in this injury then look for freshman forward Savon Goodman to step in and play well.
