The Air Force Falcons already shaky defense took a blow when the school announced that senior linebacker Josh Kusan will be out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury. Kusan injured the knee in the Falcons 28-21 overtime loss to the Navy Midshipman last weekend.
Kusan was having the best season of his career as he has already recorded 16 tackles, two for a loss, plus had an interception. Being one of the most experienced defensive players for Air Force makes this injury hurt even worse since the Falcons defense was already in the bottom third in the nation for total defense.
Kusan could possibly apply for a medial redshirt, but being about half way through the season may make that difficult to earn. However, being at a service academy he may have other priorities than playing an extra year of football.
Senior James Chambers will be replacing Kusan in the starting lineup, and has had a comparable season to Kusan with 20 total tackles and 1.5 tackles for a loss.
