Chris Petersen's New Contract Is Worth $12 Million Over Five Years

Chris Petersen's new five-year contract with Boise State is actually above the reported $2 million per year deal; it will actually be a five-year deal worth $12 million plus incentives:

The contract calls for a $2 million compensation package in 2012, $2.2 million in 2013, $2.4 million in 2014, $2.6 million in 2015 and $2.8 million in 2016.

The contract will not be official until it gets approval from the State Board on Feb. 15-16 when they have meetings scheduled.

Here is a quote about the new deal from Petersen:

"I feel honored and blessed that I will continue to lead this football team. I appreciate the support of the administration and Bronco Nation, and I'm excited about the continued growth of this program."

There are more quotes from president Bob Kustra and incoming athletic director Mark Coyle in the main article, but it is all generic stuff like Petersen's. Looks like Boise State is taking advantage of the future earnings they will be getting from the Big East.
