Las Vegas Bowl: Boise State to take on Washington

Boise State is heading back to the Las Vegas Bowl where they will face Washington.

Steven Bisig-US PRESSWIRE

Boise State to the Las Vegas was basically a done deal about a week ago, but the bowl had to wait until Boise State was officially not selected to a BCS bowl game. Basically, this was the world's worst secret that the Broncos were heading to their third straight Las Vegas Bowl.

The opponent will be the Washington Huskies out of the Pac-12, and this will be an interesting look ahead game since Boise State and Washington will open up the 2013 season. The Las Vegas Bowl had the first pick among Mountain West schools, but it was almost certain to always Boise State since San Diego State is playing in their home stadium for the bowl game. Out of the Pac-12 pecking order, the Las Vegas Bowl had the fifth selection.

The Huskies finished with a 7-5 overall record, and played an extremely difficult schedule which included playing four ranked teams. There is a common opponent between these two schools, and that is San Diego State who Washington was able to beat 21-12 in their season opener. As for bowl appearances for Washington this is their third straight bowl in as many years, and prior to that the Huskies had not been to a bowl game since 2001.

The game is Saturday, Dec. 22 at 12:30 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN.
