New Mexico Bowl score update: Nevada leads Arizona 21-7

Nevada busted out to a 21-0 lead, and take a 21-7 lead after the first quarter.

The Nevada Wolf Pack are dominating the Pac-12's Arizona Wildcats after a first quarter of play at the New Mexico Bowl, and lead 21-7. Nevada raced out to a 21-0 lead, which tied a New Mexico Bowl record for points in a quarter of this game.

Nevada was able to march down the field in a quick 2:33 on just eight plays, and the opening score was a 16-yard touchdown run by Stefphon Jefferson. Jefferson had 41 yards on that opening drive.

The next score for Nevada came on Cody Fajardo 17-yard touchdown pass to tight end Zach Sudfeld, that made it 14-0. Arizona then coughed up the ball on the following kick off, and then Fajardo found Sudfeld on their very first offensive play for a 28-yard touchdown play.

Arizona did finally get on the board after converting a 4th and 3, and they followed that up with a 21-yard touchdown run by Ka'Deem Carey getting Arizona on the board for the first time. The Nevada defense was playing extremely well before that final drive by keeping Arizona off the board, and it is expected for the Wildcats to earn some yards.

The quarter ended with Nevada driving, but Fajardo threw a deep pass which was intercepted in the endzone.

Jefferson rushed for 67 yards after the first quarter, and Fajardo was 9 of 11 for 97 yards, two touchdowns and the one interception.
