Wyoming Depth Chart: Running Back Situation Is All Even For Some Reason

The Wyoming Cowboys week one depth chart was released earlier this week and the big surprise was to see Brandon Miller and not Alvester Alexander as the top running back with Ghaali Muhammad being the third back. This seems odds since Alexander was fifth in rushing last year in the Mountain West with 792 yards and 14 touchdowns while Miller is a converted wide receiver who had a few good scrimmages in camp.

During the Mountain West conference call, head coach Dave Christensen clarified the depth chart by saying there is no number one back and that each back will be getting equal reps. On the surface it seems odd that Alexander is not the clear starter, however Wyoming starts the season off against two FCS schools in Weber State and Texas State and assuming Wyoming can win those games with ease it will allow for the coaching staff to evaluate these players in a real game.

I fully expect that Alexander will be the entrenched starter once week three rolls around when Wyoming takes on Bowling Green.
