The New Mexico quarterback situation became more clear today as Stump Godfrey decided to transfer. Godfrey is eligible to transfer to any non-Mountain West or anyone on the future Lobo schedule through 2015.
Those banned schools include:
San Diego State
New Mexico State
So that is not too many schools to be restricted from, but expect Godfrey to got to a school in the state of Texas where he is from.
Head coach Mike Locksley released a short statement:
"Stump and I have met," said head coach Mike Locksley, "and we appreciate what Stump did for this program, and we wish him well as he moves on"
Godfrey seemed to have good up side with the Lobos, but he was part of the rotating quarterback situation in 2010. A lot of the moving around had a lot to do with injuries to the other quarterbacks -- one of which involved a pumpkin carving incident -- as well as poor play.
Godfrey played in seven games and threw for 557 yards and had two touchdowns while throwing four interceptions. He also rushed for 287 yards (after sacks) and four touchdowns.
