2011 MLB Draft: Mock Drafts Vary Wildly On Mountain West Players

The 2011 MLB Draft is coming up this Monday June 6 - June 8 and there are a few amount Mountain West players that look to be drafted in the first three rounds. Earlier today we wrote about some of those prospects, and now it is time to look at some mock drafts from around the Internet.

A lot of these mocks vary on players like Utah's C.J. Cron or TCU's Matt Purke.

First up is SB Nation's MLB Bonus Baby who has their top 200 prospects:

30. Kyle Winkler, P, Texas Christian

31. Matt Purke, P, Texas Christian

46. C.J. Cron, C, Utah

Then here is a mock draft for the first round also by MLB Bonus Baby:

20. Colorado Rockies- C.J. Cron, 1B, Utah

They seem to be on Cron and Kolten Wong.

No. 48-San Diego Padres-Kyle Winkler, RHP, TCU

Winkler has stepped up for TCU even if ace Matt Purke has taken a step back. Winkler has a low-mid 90's fastball and decent offspeed stuff. He also has a bit of an ugly delivery, so he may need to shift to the bullpen but he'll get a chance to start.

Here is Rivals mock draft:

10. San Diego Padres
The Pick: Matt Purke, LHP, TCU
The Buzz: Purke's draft stock has slipped with an injury-plagued sophomore campaign. Purke was the No. 1 player in his high school class and entered this season as the No. 3 draft prospect. So long as his shoulder checks out, there is nothing to indicate Purke will not be a top of the rotation pitcher.

Here is Jonathon Mayo's mock draft from MLB.com:

20. Colorado Rockies: CJ Cron, 1B, Utah
There's been a lot of talk about a college hitter here -- Kolten Wong and Levi Michael might be fits -- but while you don't draft for need, there will be a bit of an opening soon at this position in Colorado, and Cron flat-out raked this year.

Two other mocks from ESPN's Keith Law and MyMLBDraft.com have Cron going to Colorado.
