2011 NFL Draft: Fresno State's DL Chris Carter Picked 162nd To Pittsburgh Steelers

Future Mountain West team Fresno State had another player drafted in defensive lineman Chris Carter who is heading to a great franchise in the Pittsburgh Steelers. Carter was the 2010 WAC defensive player of the year and was a first team all-WAC selection in 2009 and 2010.

At the NFL level Carter is expected to make the move from down lineman and play outside linebacker at the next level.

Here is what NFL.com has to say about Carter:

STRENGTHS

Carter has good size as a projected 4-3 outside linebacker. Locates the football in a hurry. Maintains outside contain and not fooled by misdirection. Disciplined player. Good tackler in the box. Takes direct paths to the ball-carrier. Flashes the ability to rush the passer off the edge.

WEAKNESSES

Does not have the size to stick at defensive end in the NFL. As a linebacker prospect, lacks athleticism to play out in space or in zone coverage. Likely to be a mismatch in man coverage. Doesn't play with much power at the point of attack. Takes too long to disengage from blockers.
