TCU lands commitment from 2012 Under Armour All-American DE Devonte Fields

I found it interesting that on the same day that TCU living legend Andy Dalton closed the book on his TCU career and started a new chapter in his life with the Cincinnati Bengals that Arlington Martin DE Devonte Fields gave Gary Patterson a verbal commitment and became the newest member of the Horned Frog family.  Circle of Life, Hakuna Matata, and all that good stuff.

The Horned Frogs are famous for taking Jerry Hughes out of high school as a 2-star running back and transforming him into a All-American defensive end and NFL 1st round draft pick. If Jerry Hughes is the perfect example of the "diamond in the rough," then Devonte Fields is hand picked out of the diamond mine.  The 6'4" 220lb edge rusher has already been named to the 2012 Under Armour All-American Game, the ESPNU 150 Watch List, and the Rivals250 Watch List.  247 Sports and Scout.com both graded him as a 4-star prospect and ranked him #102 and #149 in the nation respectively.  Fields chose TCU over offers from Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Michigan, Missouri, and Arizona among others.  Fields is a former teammate of current TCU linebacker Deryck Gildon, who was a 2011 early enrollee and potentially a large factor in his recruitment to Fort Worth.
