Highly rated 2012 safety Edward Pope commits to TCU

Edward Pope, a highly regarded 2012 safety prospect out of Carthage, Texas gave his commitment to Gary Patterson and the TCU Horned Frogs this weekend at a TCU junior day.  The 6'3" Pope is on the Rivals 250 and ESPNU 150 Watch Lists and had offers to LSU, Texas A&M, Missouri, & Kansas.  Pope's older brother is TCU cornerback Jason Teague, who had an outstanding senior season for the Frogs this year and will most likely find a home on an NFL roster in the near future.

Pope, who is coming off a torn ACL in 2010, looks to be a key player on a 2011 Carthage Bulldog squad that has hopes of bringing home a 4th straight state championship this season. The only other knock on Pope is that at 6'3" 175 lbs will need to put on some weight to play at the college level but with his frame and considering his bloodlines it shouldn't be a problem.  Pope is a great get for the Frogs and in a few years should be a force to be reckoned with in the 4-2-5 defense.
