College Basketball RPI: Another Shakeup This Week In The Ratings

The Mountain West as a whole is fourth in RPI and has the fourth best league strength of schedule. Selection Sunday is a few weeks away and with New Mexico losing to Utah and UNLV beating Colorado State the Mountain West's quest for more then three NCAA tournament bids is very much in question.

BYU and San Diego State are locks with each team having a top-five RPI and UNLV is currently at 25 and should be a lock. Their only blemish is a bad home lose to UCSB who has an RPI at 190, and 11 of their wins are over teams with an RPI higher then 150. The Rebels should be safe because if things go according to who they should be they will have a record of 24-8 which would mean they would make it to the semi-finals of the Mountain West tournament.

While Colorado State is currently projected to be in the bracket in the First Four round where they would play Richmond from the A-10. This is surprising since the Rams lost to UNLV on Saturday and were in the same seed as last week. Their RPI is tournament worthy at 47 and with a chance to improve that with games against San Diego State and BYU, but both are on the road.

New Mexico blew their chance for an at-large berth after losing to Utah for the second time this and couple in a loss to Wyoming and the Lobos will almost certainly need to win the Mountain West tournament to make it to the NCAA Tournament.

Now onto the latest RPI rankings.
