Conference Realignment: Big East Officially Inviting Boise State, San Diego State

The Big East conference is holding a press conference later today at 5 p.m. ET to introduce the newest members of their league. This has been a back-and-forth process for over the last two months with varying reports of an announcement and trying to land other schools. So, the announcement is going to include Boise State and San Diego State as football-only members with other full members being the Houston Cougars, Central Florida Knights and the SMU Mustangs.

San Diego State is actually a backup plan since the BYU Cougars and the Big East could not come to terms regarding television rights, so that led to San Diego State earning an invite. The teams will begin competition in the Big East in 2013. As for The Air Force Falcons and the Navy Midshipman, the Falcons are are still unsure of what they will be doing, but some are saying that they are leaning to staying in the Mountain West, and Navy is expected to join the Big East come 2014.
