Wyoming Heading To New Mexico Bowl To Take On Temple

The Wyoming Cowboys were one of the biggest surprise teams in college football by going 8-4 and they are rewarded by earning a bid to the New Mexico Bowl where they will take on the Temple Owls in the New Mexico Bowl. Temple comes from the MAC and is also 8-4 on the year. Wyoming was selected over San Diego State for this bowl bid due to beating them earlier in the season. The New Mexico Bowl tie-ins is between the Mountain West and the Pac-12, however with the Pac-12 not having enough bowl eligible teams which is how Temple made its way to this bowl game.

Temple isled by running back Bernard Pierce who rushed for 1,381 yards and had 25 touchdowns which was good enough to be third in the nation. Also, Temple's defense is one of the better one's in the country by allowing only 13.8 points per game and even though they played in the MAC allowing less than two touchdowns per game is impressive.

This game obviously takes place in New Mexico and it is the first bowl game of the season and takes place on Saturday Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. ET and is on ESPN.
