San Diego State Heading To New Orleans Bowl Against Louisiana Lafayette

The San Diego St. Aztecs are heading to New Orleans, La. to take on the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns from the Sun Belt Conference. This is the first-ever bowl bid for the Ragin Cajuns who finished 8-4 and third from the Sun Belt Conference. Typically the Sun Belt champion goes to this bowl game, but the SBC actually has multiple bowl tie-ins and their champion now goes to the GoDaddy.com Bowl.

The best win on the schedule for Ragin Cajuns is probably their 36-31 win over Florida International, so nothing to special on their resume. A reason San Diego State falls here is because the New Mexico Bowl picked the Wyoming Cowboys instead of San Diego State and the Independence Bowl was able to not select a Mountain West team.

San Diego State fans can be happy about the destination because New Orleans offers a lot more than Albuquerque.

This game kicks off on Saturday Dec. 17 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
